38㎡の賃貸マンションの改修工事。
窓から見える近くの木々、遠くに見える都心の高層ビル群を部屋のどこからでも見える空間にすることといらないものを省いていく計画を提案した。
残した物は押し入れ、台所、水回り（衛生機器はすべて取り替え）、それと畳。
この畳という物差しで35㎡を広く感じられるのではないだろうか。
照明は部屋を区切らないように斜めに配置した。
部屋を広くするために壁、床、天井を省いていくと、凹凸が激しいコンクリートスラブが現れたので、モルタルで埋めて平らな床とした。
モルタルを選んだのはこの家を借りるであろう30歳前後の人にとって、畳と同様に馴染みのある素材であるということと、それぞれの素材がつくる生活スタイルに対応できる賃貸にしたかったから。
新たに付け加えた色として、配管隠しの蓋に塗った鉄の赤錆色は、錆び止めという性質と和色であるという理由で選んだ。

 

This is the renovation of 38㎡ rental apartments.
I suggested a plan which removes all unnecessary objects to make space to see nearby trees and the distant skyscrapers of downtown through the window.
“Oshi-ire*,” kitchen, lavatory, and tatami were kept in the same place. (These items were all replaced with new equipment.) *Oshi-ire: a Traditional Japanese closet.

We created an ample open space without walls but contrasted by keeping the small “Tatami” area.
This small Tatami room would also feel much more than its size compared with this ample open space.
We arranged the lights diagonally not to feel a separation between the rooms.
To create a spacious feeling, we removed the surface of the walls, flooring, and ceiling. As a result, the rough concrete slab shows from beneath the flooring; we filled this with mortar to make it evenly flat.
The first reason for using mortar was that mortar is as familiar as a Tatami mat to anyone around 30 years old.
The second reason was that we wanted them to lead a comfortable life blended with these materials in this room.
And, we added color, the color of iron rust. It has the function of rust prevention, and the color carries a traditional Japanese mood.

There are no doors for the bedroom or walk-in closet.
These walls and ceiling have an unfinished look, and I leave it to the tenant’s taste as to how to utilize these rooms.
In the evening, the bedroom light casts long decorative shadows from the rafters and surrounding frame.

板橋区にある一軒家のリノベーション。
２階建ての一軒家に男女含め８名が暮すシェアハウス。
間取りの変更はほとんど行わず、みんなが集うキッチンエリアを改装することに重点を置きました。
要望としては、１階のトイレ、浴室前室にある程度広さを確保すること、
もともと廊下にあったキッチンを移設すること、入居者の情報交換の場となるようなメッセージボードを設けること。
キッチンの移設先は、庭に面した和室とし、押入れの中にキッチンを作ることを提案しました。
押入れの中段をキッチン天板として使い、既存のフォルムはそののまま残したうえで、
新しく手を加えた部分は、古さとは間逆を意識し、ステンレス鏡面で内部を囲った。
レンジフードも枕棚を貫通させて落とし込んだ。
そのため、レンジフードがステンレスの内部に反射しまるで、浮遊しているような錯覚を起こす。
そのほかにも居間と寝室をつなぐ壁面上部にステンレス鏡面の箱を貫通させ本棚として使ってもらうという計画です。
本来収納として使われるべき押入れをキッチンへと用途を変更させたことで生まれる、一見異様な感覚は、
この家の現代の使われ方には受け入れやすい形態だと思う。
ステンレスの無機質でハードな印象と既存の経年変化を感じさせる質感が相反しながらも、共存し、クロスオーバーした空間となっている。

This project is a renovation of a shared house.
This old wooden house has two stories and a yard.
The first floor has a room for men and a shared space such as a kitchen, dining, living, and bathroom.
The second floor has two rooms for women. This time, we designed and constructed especially the first floor.
In old wooden houses, a closet called “oshiire” in Japanese put a “futon(quilts)” in this space for seasonal clothes.
We transformed this “oshiire” into a kitchen space with keeping the atmosphere of old “oshiire.” While we adopted mirror-finished sus for this kitchen wall (“oshiire” ‘s wall) to emphasize new pieces of equipment.

With this affects, it seems like the rangehood is floating in the air, and the lighting fixtures are lined repeatedly in these mirrors. These sus mirrors gave this small “oshiire” into a universe.

都内某所の閑静な住宅街の一角に計画された夫婦の為の住宅リノベーション。

リノベーション以前の既存建物は1階が専用住居、2階が2部屋からなるアパートで構成され、2階へのアクセスは建物脇にある外階段のみであった。
今回の計画では、外装、構造は現状を維持しながら主に内部空間を大きく作り替え、1階に玄関ホール兼階段室、寝室、倉庫、浴室等の水回り、2階にはリビング、ダイニング、キッチン、フリースペースからなる間仕切り壁のない1室空間を配した。

1階2階は共通して、天井面、壁面には通常外装材として使用する骨材入りの塗料、床面は全面コンクリートの土間とすることで、住空間内部全体が外部の延長であるかのような雰囲気を作り出す事を試みている。 また、各空間を構成するテクスチャーや色を白、コンクリート、亜鉛メッキ、木材に限定する事で、各素材の特徴を強調しながら住空間全体に統一感を与えている。

そして、このプロジェクトでは寝室に現代美術家 松本尚のドローイングを壁紙として使用、玄関ホールには名和自身のドローイング2点を設置する等、建築的なアプローチにとどまらない、アートと住空間の新しい共存方法を探る新たな試みにも取り組んでいる。

A residence renovation of a house located in a quiet neighborhood of Tokyo for a couple.
Previous to the renovation, the building was an apartment comprised of a private residence on the first floor with two extra rooms on the second floor. The only access from the first floor to the second floor was the outside staircase. In the planning of this renovation, the original interior and the structure, including the exterior, were maintained to maximize the existing layout and appearance. The first floor consists of the entrance and the staircase, bedroom, storage, bathroom, and plumbing. The second floor has a living room, dining room, kitchen, and free space without partitions. For both the first and second floors in common, ceilings and walls are applied with aggregated paint which is usually used for cladding, and the entire floor is used concrete. The attempt of this composition is to create an atmosphere as if the inner space of this house is an extension of the outside. In addition, by limiting the use of textures and colors such as white, concrete, zinc plating, and wood, it emphasizes the character of each material that gives a sense of unity to the whole space.
Moreover, this project challenges not only from an architectural perspective but also in exploring the possibility in the co-existence of art and living space. For example, a contemporary artist, Nao Matsumoto, worked on the drawing for the wallpaper. Nawa himself also displayed his own drawing.

マンション1室のリノベーションです。
大きなワンルームのような空間の中にそっと生活の補助線を引くように家具を配置しています。
家具のいくつかは可動であり、シーンに合わせて自由に移動することができます。

キッチンカウンター及びダイニングテーブルは少しだけ高く、大きめに、
逆に床のラーチ合板の割付は少しだけ細かめにするなど、少しだけ過剰にしたものを集めそれらを各部位に丁寧に配置していくことで、
どれがいわゆる「あたりまえ」のスケールなのかわからないような状態を目指しました。

この「あたりまえ」のスケールがわからない部屋では、視覚的に錯覚が起こり、居る場所によって広く感じたり狭く感じたりします。

ワンルームという変化の乏しくなりがちな空間の中で、
視覚的な広さの変化と補助線を自由に引き直すことの組み合わせによって、 新しい自由度のある生活をつくりだそうとしました。

埼玉県さいたま市大宮区のBARのリノベーション。 既存の飲食店は広さも限られ、天井も低く、壁の仕上げも転用は難しい状況であった。 コストを抑えながらの内・外装工事を行うにあたり、解体は最小限に抑え、既存にある素材を探していった。 天井裏の鉄骨+木造をあらわにし、 建物の構造材以外は黒のハイグロス化粧版を仕上げに使用。 照度の低いBARの中であかりが映り込むことにより、天井に奥行きを与えることを考えた。 壁はラワンベニヤの木目をオイルフィニッシュで強調して表情を持たせ、 床は既存のままワックス仕上げ。 天板はオーナー様の繋がりのある方からいただいたシナ一枚板が手元を演出している。 ファサードもそのままの外壁、 黒テントとオールドパインのドアがモルタル巾木で引き締まった印象になった。 ボトルや物がたくさん置かれることでバランスが取れるように考えたBAR店内、 このBARで生まれる「繋がり」の空間として、さまざまな色に変化していくだろう。
